The Akumal Arts Festival is the biggest murals festival in North America.
Once a year more than 100 artists descend on the small village of Akumal in the Riviera Maya to paint the village over with their beautiful art.
Proceeds generated by the sponsors of the festival are distributed to different community engagement programs through the Akumal Cultural Foundation (registered as Hekab Be Biblioteca 501c3 nonprofit).
Select artists participating in the 2022 Akumal Arts Festival agreed to collaborate with us to create animated NFTs of their murals from the 2022 festival.
85% of proceeds from primary sales of NFT-4-GOOD will go to the Akumal Cultural Foundation to help support its community programs.
The 15% remaining funds are used to cover the cost of animation and NFT production. The participating artists receive a a 10% royalty on all secondary market sales.
The murals depicted in these NFTs will be replaced in a year from now to be painted over during the next Akumal Arts Festival. The NFT-4-GOOD collection aims to share this inspiring festival with the world and use Web3 technology to curate a historic, digital representation in the archival of time.
