In collaboration with Ask Mona, DANAE is pleased to present Belle Époque, L’âge de l’imagination artificielle. A group show curated by Hugo du Plessix, with: Sarah Meyohas, aurèce vettier, u2p050, Catherine Ikam & Louis Fléri, Guo Cheng, Albertine Meunier, Patrick Tresset, Sasha Stiles, Minuit, Mehdi Besnainou.

The exhibition Belle Époque, L’âge de l’imagination artificielle, traces the evolution of artificial intelligence (AI) in artistic creation since the inception of Google's Deep Dream project in the summer of 2015. The curated collection presents a non-exhaustive exploration of the recent history of AI-driven aesthetics, highlighting a potential historical milestone in the evolution of AI, particularly in the realm of automated image production. The selected artworks showcase the transformative impact of AI, not only as a tool for solving complex computational problems but also as a means to push the boundaries of creativity. From early experiments with Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) by artists like Sarah Meyohas and Aurèce Vettier to contemporary uses of text-to-image generators like Dall-E by Patrick Tresset, Albertine Meunier, and Minuit Digital, the exhibition reflects the dynamic interplay between technological advancements and shifts in neural network training data.
